Spunbond Non-Woven Fabrics

Non-woven fabrics has proven its usefulness in many applications. Spunbond nonwoven fabric is not something that everyday people would know about except for those in the industry, and seen the material applied in various fields. It is not your normal everyday cotton fabric, but made from synthetics like polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, nylon, rayon or polyurethane.

Unlike normal woven materials where the fabric are weaved from thread, spunbond non-woven fabrics are made by depositing extruded, spun filaments onto a collecting belt in a uniform fandom manner followed by bonding the fibres with or without chemicals. Because it is not weaved like the traditional cloth, they provide strength and characteristics superior than cloth for application that requires strength and yet at the same time the fabric is soft for flexibility.

The application of nonwoven fabrics is wide and varied, from baby diapers, backings for sofa and bed mattresses, carpet backings, to industrial uses for automotive carpets, filtration, and in civil uses as a geotextile to control soil erosion for road construction by providing better drainage.

New ways of using as well as from research and development has given rise to new hybrid material to enhance its ability in each area of application. So much so that non-woven manufacturers are all not the same, each has their own speciality in its own field.

For example, Du Pont has a very special material called Tyvek which no other manufacturer has even come close in creating a competing material to match it. Tyvek is really special, it has no lint, it is very strong, and has been use as a writing paper in the clean room of the electronic industry where any form of dust would jeopardise their production.

Another example is Kimberly Clark whose specialty is in baby diapers. They are number one in sales for producing non-woven fabric for the baby diaper manufacturer market.

As for us, we are supplying the spunbond non-woven fabrics made by Unitika Japan and TUSCO Thailand. We have provided the materials to the carpet underlay industry, to the cable industry and even for an interesting niche market for flower wrapping.

The are many areas where the spunbond non-woven fabrics could be used and if you would like to inquire and explore using it do contact us for inquiry and further discussion.
